Something that I had waited awhile for was my tattoo of a heart that is on the inside of my left wrist. I had been waiting to get it for five years, and I still cannot believe that it is real as I only got it three weeks go. I used to draw it with pen everyday until my mom told me to wash it off. My parents still haven't seen it, so their reaction should be an interesting one.
I wanted this particular tattoo for multiple meanings. I drew it when my life turned sour as a reminder that I am loved and I am not nothing. It grew to mean more as my love life blossomed. My boyfriend was the one who actually bought my tattoo for me. He knew how important it was to me, and occasionally was the one who drew it for me. It was definitely worth waiting for, as it holds so much meaning and symbolizes something important to me.
I do believe that Americans are too fast paced. We need to slow down and realize what is truly important in life. We, as a society, value instant gratification over delayed gratification because we get the end result now. We are constantly living in the now, without much thought to the later.
I agree that technology is one of the key factors to our fast paced society. Before technology, people had to be patient to talk to one another-sending letters back and forth can take weeks. Now, we can get ahold of them quickly and in seconds. We have become accustomed to this, and expect everything to be just as fast.
